The VPS Coding Club meets each week at lunchtime in the library for students in Years 3-6, with activities pitched to the student's understanding of coding.
Mr Phillip Brown, a robotic engineer and coding expert, volunteers his time each week to join us on our adventures.
The Code club has been running for several years now, with a steadily increasing membership of boys and girls interested in coding and robotics. Code club is about learning coding, robotics and general problem solving while having lots of fun completing challenging and interesting projects.
Coding projects consist of designing games, telling stories using graphics and animation and making music or sounds. The robotics projects allow students to program a robot to make it move, dance, flash coloured lights, measure distance and make sounds. More advanced robotics projects allow students to program a robot to react to its surroundings and solve simple problems such as following a line while avoiding obstacles. Code club members have had a lot of fun improving their coding knowledge as individuals or as part of a team. It is great to see code club members stop and help others and work together as part of a team.
